Update:

The terror plot involved 6 planes and, according to an unnamed source via Fox, as many as 50 people have been arrested, but they are not confident they got them all. The unnamed source goes on to state that it has the "footprint of al-Qaida." The plot was characterized as imminent.

"They were not yet sitting on a plane, but they were very close to travelling."

Would that mean that they had applied for visas to the US, with travel dates. If so, what about domestic flights? No visa needed. Betcha that is why domestic flight alert has been raised to ORANGE. International flights are RED.
